The new Wagon R boasts to be safer than the previous versions but the NCAP crash tests prove otherwise. Not only did the car score a rating of 2 stars on the crash test but its body shell was also labeled as unstable and provided minimal protection to the adult as well as child occupants.
The airbags slightly increased protection. Currently, the active safety features that are available with Maruti Suzuki WagonR are ABS (antilock Brake System), Front Ventilated Disc Brakes, Front and Rear Fog Lamps, which help to avoid collision like situations.
The car also comes equipped with a number of passive safety features, which are supposed to save the lives of occupants in accidents; these features are Dual Front SRS Airbags, Front and rear ELR Seatbelt and collapsing steering column.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR also comes with anti-theft features like Engine Immobilizer with Theft Deterrent System and central Locking.
All this should make the car a safe one but wonder why it failed the crash tests.
