Last year Maruti Suzuki announced that they would add safety features to the Alto K10 after the failed Crash test. Has anyone been following that? Have any safety features been added?

Hey,
Yes, it did receive some additional safety features that have been in effect since April this year. Maruti Alto K10 has been updated with new safety features like ABS with EBD, driver airbag, reverse parking sensor, speed alert system, and seat belt reminder for driver and co-driver. With the new safety features, the updated Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is now compliant with "AIS-145 Safety Norms". Following the upgrade, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has witnessed a price increase in all its variants. The new prices have been effective from April 11, 2019. This now allows the Alto K10 to also meet crash norms which call for body integrity (for frontal crashes at 56 kmph). The work has been carried out in-house at Maruti Suzuki's own R&D center at Rohtak. The idea was to make the entire current range ready to meet the impending safety regulations. It may be recalled the off late the company's relatively newer models like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ignis have also focussed on being crash-ready.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10's main rival Renault Kwid was updated with key safety features like driver airbag, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder and speed alert system, in February. The updated version is pedestrian safety regulations-compliant as well. Also, these upgrades were made without any additional costs.
